Our IT Internship Program is open to students who want to gain practical experience in one of the various career fields at the heart of the financial technology industry. Over the course of this in-depth, comprehensive program you make valuable contributions to the bank’s work, develop skills, expand your knowledge and grow in confidence. You participate in exclusive events, shadowing days, real-world IT challenges and demanding tasks to extend your experience and create valuable networks in the bank and the wider sector. By the end of the program you gain a rich, varied insight into our work at Credit Suisse and the industry in general.

Start date: different start dates possible
Duration: 4-6 months
Academic requirements: Completed at least four semesters of a bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in a master’s degree from a university or university of applied sciences

Your field of responsibility
We have significant challenges and great opportunities to manage and exploit our big data sets. Our ability to compete, to comply, and to transform is tied to our ability to unlock hidden links between data scattered around our big data lake and extract value from it. Graphs are emerging enterprise data technologies that leverage ontologies and related advanced analytics including AI to build and represent knowledge in expressive and novel ways around risk and compliance projects.

In this role, you will help maintain, develop, and scale our platform Octopus based on Neo4j graph clusters and support our rapid growth and ambitious goals. Our members take a collaborative and customer-oriented approach. You will have the opportunity to offer new ideas and make valuable contributions, learn, and adopt new technologies fast and working on the latest release of Neo4j graph data science library GDS by using graph algorithms to explore and monitor transactions, trades, and other financial data within the network analysis team.

Your future colleagues
You will join a young and dynamic team of engineers/data scientists based in the Innovation Park within EPFL (Lausanne). We are driving major projects within Compliance and Transaction Surveillance with a focus on scalable technologies and full-stack solutions:
Big-Data Analytics using Python/PySpark
Web Applications leveraging our Data Lake using Neo4j/Java,Spring/Javascript,React
We also work closely with our collaborators and stakeholders from many different locations (Zurich, Asia, UK). You will get the chance to immerse yourself in the anti-fraud area and interact with various employee profiles: Engineers, Business Analysts, Compliance Officers, Project Manager and participate in helping the bank fight against financial crime.


Your qualifications and skills

  • To master big data challenges that you will face, we require at least the following
  • Knowledge in Python and Spark
  • Fundamentals of (relational) Databases
  • Neo4j/Cypher is a plus
